Kevin Wicks joined the Transworld Business Advisors UK network because he appreciated the guidance of an expert advisor when he sold his business. Now, he is combining his experiences with Transworld’s 41+ years success, to offer support to business owners, whilst inspiring the next generation.
If you are someone who wants to offer expert guidance and support to others, especially to other business owners, where do you turn to achieve this? Especially if you don’t have the time – or energy – to start a new career path from scratch. For Kevin, he saw an achievable opportunity in the Transworld Business Advisors’ franchise; one which he knows suits him, and his future goals. “When I first started talking to Transworld, there was nothing like this in my local area. I could see how well the model fitted with my career experience, and I could build a successful business for myself.”

You don’t necessarily have to have had experience with buying and selling a business, but for Kevin, he believes this will give him an edge in his new Transworld franchise. “I can empathise with my clients, because I’ve also had to make the life-changing decision to sell a business I’d started when I was in my twenties. It’s a tough call to make, but it’s often also the right decision to make. I believe my experience will give me the edge over my competitors, and I am confident I will grow my new business built on this personal experience, in alignment with the Transworld model.”
Transworld has created a business model which is primarily built on relationship and trust. “If you are the kind of person who other people easily connect with, and you value maintaining these connections, then you may be the right fit for our Franchise,” explains Henry Ziff, Managing Director of Transworld Business Advisors, UK. “I didn’t have any personal experience of selling a business, when I first invested in my own Transworld of London office. But I’ve been able to implement the model we teach to our new franchisees, and secure some great successes of my own. It’s this success our franchisees are able to experience, for themselves.”
When it comes to finding the right kind of client, Kevin says he is making use of every networking opportunity, including the use of online technology, as he grows his client-base. “I’ve been in conversation with some prospective clients from the moment I decided to invest in my Transworld office. Covid has put people back a few months, so by maintaining the conversation, I am confident they will see the window of opportunity at the right time for them.”
As he works toward his retirement plan, Kevin is using his business to also inspire his daughter, who has joined him in the Transworld of Teesside office. “Victoria has recently left school and having been involved in the businesses of both her mother and I, she has her own five year plan for entrepreneurship. By inviting Victoria to work alongside me, she gains crucial business experience, and I gain the time to spend investing in her, as well as her skills with modern technology. It’s a win-win for us both, and she is already proving to be an asset to the Transworld of Teesside office, just with her approach to the people we work with.”
