For one of our newer franchise partners, a networking referral led to the successful conclusion of a niche business sale, through his Transworld Business Advisors office.
Having invested in his Transworld franchise last year, John Groves, set about using his networking skills and connections with the local business community to his advantage.
He was soon approached by a business owner, who knew of the support Transworld Business Advisors offered to business owners looking to exit her business, because of a referral. Although, a deal was initially on the table, she wanted confirmation from a business advisor, her credit management business had been valued correctly.
However, the buyer pulled out of the deal, and the business owner was left in no doubt who to turn to for help, and she contacted John. “She’d learned the hard way that selling a business can be a challenging pathway, especially when you try to work it all out for yourself. I was able to reassure her about the process we use at Transworld, and within days of my putting her business to market, we had a number of inquiries on it. Including a few offers at the full asking price.”
Looking at the deals presented to her, the seller chose the one which suited her and her situation, best. “We were approached by a number of prospective buyers, all offering differing terms. The successful buyer, was someone who has his own company and was looking for a bolt-on business. The offer he gave was exactly what our seller was looking for, as it would allow her mother who was also her business partner to retire, but leave her with the means to pursue further opportunities as a business coach.”
For John, to have the backing of the Transworld model behind him, which has proven to work for over 42 years, gave his clients confidence in the business sale process. “Both clients were incredibly appreciative of the support and advice we gave them, at each stage. They each reiterated how they couldn’t have completed without having me by their side. Which just goes to show what running a Transworld office can achieve.”
John is someone who is committed to making a difference to people, and leaving the world a better place. So, he made the decision early on, he would give back through his Transworld office. “Being in a position to make a difference to others less fortunate than us, is a privilege I don’t take lightly.” Johns says. From this sale, he was able to make a donation to the client’s charity.
