However, a look at the stats around this, or your own personal experiences, indicates it may not be so simple. Research carried out at the end of October, by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) suggested ‘firms are less open to hiring older workers than younger people”.

- 25% of adults said they left work for retirement
- Whilst 19% were made redundant
